Speaker Bio - Dr. Bob Rohrlack, CCE, President & CEO
Dr. Bob Rohrlack, CCE, serves as the President and CEO of the Tampa Bay Chamber, the voice of business for the Tampa Bay region. He leads the Chamber’s mission to “Serve our members and enhance the community by building business success.” Since joining the TBC, the organization has introduced a minority business development program, annual awards dinner for the Emerging Leaders of Tampa Bay, and increased effectiveness in advocacy, having briefed the two White House administrations.
He has over 34 years of leadership experience in the chamber of commerce/economic development profession having worked at the local, regional, and state levels. He is a Certified Chamber Executive (CCE), and past chairman of the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals. The Tampa Bay Chamber is a two-time recipient of the Florida Chamber of the Year award during his tenure as CEO, most recently for 2020. He was named the 2013 FACP Executive of the Year for Florida.
Dr. Rohrlack had research published in The American Journal of Management, The International Journal of Management and Applied Science, Southeast Case Research Journal (Best Case Award), and The Muma Business Review. His dissertation, Playing Darts in the Dark: How are Chamber of Commerce Leaders Aligned for Greater Effectiveness? studied the factors influencing chamber of commerce effectiveness with implications for any membership associations.
Since Rohrlack started as CEO of the Tampa Bay Chamber, the organization became the first, and to date, only Chamber in the U.S. to achieve the “3-Star Chamber of Valor” Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for their work with the military community three years in a row. Additionally, the TBC is a 5-Star Accredited Chamber by the US Chamber of Commerce. Less than 2% of chambers in the USA have accreditation at this level.
He is an Honorary Commander at MacDill Air Force Base, a board member of Visit Tampa Bay, Tampa Downtown Partnership, University of Tampa Trustee, and the Westshore Alliance. He is a board member of the Association of the Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Dr. Rohrlack has degrees from Troy University, The University of Southern Mississippi, and Rohrlack received his Doctor of Business Administration degree from the University of South Florida. He graduated from the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and the Institute for Organizational Management, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, at the University of Georgia, where he also teaches. Additionally, he holds certificates in Post Crisis Leadership and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace, both from the University of South Florida.
